Sachin’s Bat, Abhinav’s Rifle Go for Charity

The growing economy in India might be inspiring the Indians to do well in a whole lot of diverse fields, or even  vise-versa may be true. Whatever may be the case "The Love for sports" has definitely been one of the benefactors . Indian actor Rahul Bose showed this when he pulled off an auction Friday night of the medals, bats and balls used by local and international sports legends to raise more than $500,000 (20 million rupees) for charity.
As it is always expected here in India, Cricket was the biggest money-raiser, with the bat used by Sachin Tendulkar to score 163 runs against New Zealand, bringing in $95,000. (4.25 million rupees.)
The sucess of Commonwealth Games still fresh in peoples’ minds, or perhaps in a sign that India is ready to extend its embrace beyond cricket, people also paid big money for other sporting memorabilia.
